The Panel is established to address recommendations on applications for Section4 grant aid made to the Welsh Assembly Government. The Product Development Panel will require to have a small number of participants – Chairperson, Regional Strategy Director, 2 Trade Directors, 2 Local Authority Directors – to be able to meet on a virtual and frequent basis, so as not to delay decisions on applications. Participants will require support and skills development, so as to discharge their duties in accordance not only with the Partnership’s Code of Conduct but also with commercial in confidence matters.

It is intended to create a network for all businesses and organisations interested in human resource development within tourism in North Wales. It is anticipated that key stakeholders within the network will be tourism businesses and other private, public and voluntary sector partners. It is intended to support and facilitate the activities within local and regional action plans by providing a framework in which those independent activities are recognised as part of a larger multi-faceted action plan for North Wales. It will be the vehicle to enable the delivery of the People Development Action Plans in Tourism Strategy North Wales.

TPNW’s policy will be to work with the 18 Tourist Associations, 5 Sector Groups, and 4 Consortia in the region, grouped in clusters as its sounding board, co-terminus with the Marketing Areas within the region, and to develop 5 Marketing Area Partnerships for
Isle of Anglesey, Snowdonia Mountains and Coast, North Wales Coastal Resorts - West - Llandudno/Colwyn Bay, North Wales Coastal Resort - East - Rhyl/Prestatyn, The North Wales Borderlands.
The 5 Marketing Area Partnerships will adopt Planning Tomorrow’s Tourism To-day - Marketing Area Tourism Strategy and Action Plan as their template, this to lead to the development of a Marketing Area Business Plan to be progressed by the Area’s Tourism Delivery Team. To gel the Marketing Area Partnerships, tourism partnership north wales will offer administrative / co-ordination support. Individual Tourist Associations will not be supported. It is intended to recognize the uniqueness of each association but secure through the Marketing Area Partnerships the following:
- Inclusiveness – All bona fide trade, local authority and other relevant agencies participating.
- Improved inter-linkage, and the fostering of good relationships between associations, private and public sector interests, to work on common goals.
- Sharing of knowledge and experiences and up skilling of the competencies of the representatives.
- Nomination of members and advisors to the Board of Directors of Tourism Partnership North Wales.
- An Annual Bid will be submitted for funds of circa £50k per Marketing Area Partnerships by 31 October to a Business Plan format.
- An Evaluation and Monitoring Report will be provided with 6 weeks of completion of funded work.
The Marketing Area Partnerships will integrate with Strategic, Regional or Rural Tourism Growth Areas (TGA’s), and where practical TGA Steering Group / Management meetings will merge or meet back to back.
